Couldn’t be happier,
Purchased this TV at the weekend to replace my 3 year old Samsung LE40A656. The D6530 improves on the A656 in all aspects from superior HD & SD picture, sound and even faster remote control response time.
Pro’s
Fantastic HD picture with amazing colour texture and picture detail especially when watching a Blu Ray.
SD performance is very good for size of screen, and upscales well on Sky sources.
Size of screen is very compact due to it’s small frame. The 46 inch D6530 is only 6cm wider than my outgoing 40 inch TV, and one cm less in overall height!!
Design is beautiful, website pictures do not do this TV justice.
Motion is great, esp Movies and Sports. Very smooth…
Built in Wifi is great for Samsung Smart and firmware updates that are downloaded automatically.
3D… Wow factor. I wasn’t too fussed about 3D, thought it was a big gimmick. I am totally hooked after watching the Champions League final on Sky 3D channel last Saturday. Jaw dropping images at times. I have now ordered a brand new 3D player so I can buy some 3D films.
Sound is much better than my 3 previous Samsungs LCD’s. Not perfect but I have surround sound hooked up when I watch movies etc.
Despite loads of picture settings, the standard setting is very good and needs very little tweaking. The screen menus are also very easy to navigate around.
Cons..
I’m picking here but like most LCD LED’s, the screen suffers from minor backlight bleeding in all four corners. Not too distracting but noticeable enough in very dark scenes if you look for it. (Basically you can see light creeping in from all four corners of set in very dark scenes)
Overall I am very, very pleased with this purchase.
Lastly, the promo pictures show this TV with a black stand, the stand that actually comes with the TV is silver, and IMHO looks far better.
I was initially looking to buy the D7000 until I saw this set. The D6530 represents more value for money with the same gorgeous looks.
5/5 Samsung has created a masterpiece.

Excellent TV,
I’ve had the TV for a week now and I am very pleased with it.
Firstly, the 2D image is absolutely astounding. Having been used to watching a mere 720p ‘HD Ready’ television for the past five and a half years, I was blown away by the crisp, lifelike images from my Sky HD box. The colours, the resolution, the LED backlighting and the Motion Flow technology combine in such a way that I felt as though the screen was a window I was looking out through. I have never seen such detail before. Even the old standard definition images are upscaled to the point that they actually look better than the HD used to look on my old screen. Really very good all round.
Some reviewers have mentioned that the speakers sound a bit flat, which is to be expected from such a razor thin screen. I however, have found them to be very good, better than my last flatscreen. Sound is crisp, bass is sufficiently deep and the screen does its best to deliver a faux surround effect. I can only imagine how good a dedicated surround sound system would be like.
The 3D feature is fairly good. I have been unable to watch for more than fifteen to twenty minutes at a time because of eye-fatigue. What I have seen is okay, but it certainly isn’t the Second Coming that the film and television manufacturing industry has been making it out to be. It adds a little depth and the images come a tiny bit out of the screen. If you are short on 3D material, you can download the free ‘Explore 3D’ app from the Samsung store, taking me to my next point.
I’m not interested in ‘Smart TV’ as it doesn’t really offer anything you can’t get on your smartphone or laptop. While apps like ‘Explore 3D’ allow you to test out certain functions of the screen, the rest of the Smart Hub is filled with the obligatory ‘social networking’ bloat (which I promptly uninstalled). I tried out the included web browser but having to navigate using the remote was incredibly cumbersome, tiring and stressful. It would have been much better if the included remote could have housed a sliding qwerty keyboard but I don’t think I will be using this feature much anyway.
I have Sky HD, so I haven’t actually tested out the Freeview HD tuner or the pvr function (requiring a USB stick or HDD) so I can’t comment on that. Setting the system up was very easy though. Plug it in, switch it on. It scans for Wi-fi networks, asks you for the password and installs any updates automatically. **edit** Today (16/08), out of curiosity I decided to try the built in tuner, using an old rooftop aerial (it’s over 14 years old, battered, barely holding together) and I was amazed that the TV not only tuned in 100+ digital channels but also all the available Freeview HD ones. Comparing the BBC OneHD broadcast over the aerial to the SkyHD version, I could see no difference in quality. Clear, crisp HD. All this from an old battered aerial. Yet another plus for this TV.
The media player plays the common AVI format with ease and actually clears the image up quite well, making the files look almost DVD in quality. I haven’t tried music yet, but JPEGs also display with ease and beautiful clarity.
If you have an Android phone, an iPod/Pad/Phone you can use the Samsung Remote which works over Wi-fi, to control the television. There is also an app on the Apple Appstore and Android Marketplace which interacts the the Samsung AllShare technology built into the TV which allows you to stream media from your phone to the TV, be it photos, videos or music. Handy for showing off photos to family without having to connect cables or swap out cards.
All in all, I would say this has been a very good purchase. The 46 inch screen takes up only a little more space than my old 40 inch because the bezel is very thin (the TV is almost all screen!) which is great if you are worried about having the space to accomodate it. The 2D HD looks marvellous and the 3D, while gimmicky, is also a somewhat interesting addition to the features.
If you’re upgrading from the first generation of flatscreens like me, I couldn’t recommend a better product.

Outstanding,
I ordered this product on Friday and it arrived on Saturday. This LED TV is simply amazing. It’s gone on top of the fire place in our lounge and looks great. If you are having the TV on a wall I would strongly advise buying the Samsung Wall mount WMN2000BX – it looks like a picture frame, I saw it in John Lewis. Overall amazing picture quality, sounds amazing and loads of extras with the apps. I use Skype on it all the time. Don’t look any further just buy it!!
