Internet TV and home media servers are the “Wave of the future” to use an old cliche. In about 20 years or possibly less, there will likely not be Cable TV stations as we know them today. Most of their content will be on the internet, possibly free with advertising or at a small monthly fee, and it will be more geared toward Video on Demand rather than schedule based. You’ll buy and download movies (hopefully at a reasonably low cost) rather than buying them on DVD or Blue Ray. Either that or stream them from the source. You’ll also be listening to Internet radio in your car and XM will go the way of the 8-track.The future is already here, just not in that many homes beyond the desktop or laptop yet. This is a review of what the current “future” as on a Samsung internet ready TV. We got thisTV from EastCoastTVs.com for about 00 at the time,. Camera and Wireless LAN device not included.

  1. @bluber890 it’s a bit more difficult then that. I spliced a vga to av cable, and it only worked on my tv I own from 1989! So I used a custom made chip with a 45c gate and a tlg39 and it seemed to work fine! 😀

  2. @k3roj thanks for the comment & suggestion :). Ironically I live in and around the same region, but Internet TV suits my needs at my place with this set up, as Im not a sports fan. Same goes for at my girlfriend’s place where use a Roku box. That set up is my more user friendly and intuitive for general population.

  3. Don’t forget to check out your local TV channels by using a small TV antenna. Here near Baltimore, 21 channels are available from Baltimore and Washington, no rotor needed by placing the small antenna in the middle since with digital TV, there is no longer any ghosting.

  4. @erminthon there are two parts to the video – part 2 shows how easy it is to connect a modern PC to a LCD tv.

  5. @alizay323 Veetle is a total rip off of Justin.tv. From it’s design (WOW looks exactly same) to it’s concept.

  6. @Gyro911 actually u can watch pay per view channels on veetle dot com…even movies that are still in theaters…i saw the paquiao vs. mosley fight like that, for free….u can even watch it on ur phone =)

  7. @claudiapatx cool i’ve heard of it. Just last week I went to Best Buy and bought a Roku for $80. Its a small set-top box you easily connect to TV set to access via a remote/cool interface Netfilx, Hulu Plus, Crackle (Sony movies/tv shows), Pandora, Facebook pics – to name a few. Best of all you can search the net for private channels for this set top box to add CNN, tons of porn sites, justin.tv, youtube and a ton more. Going to make a video to demo it. It’s the killer solution 4 every1

  8. Hi. I dropped cable/satellite back in August of 2010. Been doing PlayOn ever since. Love keeping that $85 a month for other stuff. Oh and hardly any commercials! To all those with PlayOn check out the new TubTub script. 120 live channels that work perfect 24 hours a day!

  9. @paul7986 you use neighbors wifi? so, you admit you are a lazy?, i bet you got that tv given to you, or bought it from ebay or craigslist?

  10. OIEEST ÄLKÄÄ LUKEKO TÄTÄ!!!!

ÄLÄ LUE TÄTÄ! Vuonna 1997 tyttö nimeltä Lauren käveli metsässä, ja sitten hän vain katosi, eikä kukaan löytänyt häntä paitsi vuonna 2000 kun nuori tyttö nimeltä Mary löysi hänen ruumiinsa ja merkkasi hänen hauta-arkkuunsa tekstin “I wasn’t pretty enough”. Nyt kun olet lukenut tämän, hän ilmestyy peiliisi ja sano “You are not pretty enough” ja tappaa sinut. Jotta pelastuisit, kopioi tämä viiteen muuhun videoon. TÄMÄ ON TOTTA

  11. Jadoo TV no Longer works as of Mar 30, 2011 and they are fraud.. You no longer can receive any programs.. Are other people having the same experience? I sent them 3 emails, and didn’t get any reply. I called them and was no. 6 on the waiting list, and the system hanged up just as it was my turn. Go figure that out. They advertised on their website about ARY and GEO, etc. and we did receive for couple of months, and now for the last 2 weeks, everything has disappeared..

  12. Those apps you need to pay for, do you first need to fill in your creditcard number or can you just acces the apps and pay afterwards?

  13. When i go to youtube and try watching videos that are 1080p it plays them in a lower resolution and i dont know where to select the higher resolution. Please help !!!

  14. I logged into youtube after about 2 years or so to say thanks to you. I am considering to buy an internet tv but your review helped me to decide that I don’t need to put money into that yet.

No web browser means no internet …however samsung try to convince us.

  15. I have a samsung led 4600 internet tv with the samsung wireless adapter. However I don’t have a computer or internet in the house. Do I need to buy a wireless router and will that get me internet access for tv? Thanks

  16. I personally think that this is all hype..I have a 50″ flat screen and have my Imac hooked up through HDMI to it and I have a laptop and an Iphone…nothing new here..I’ll be saving my money for when the 3d TVs come out that don’t require glasses

  17. @bkljaydee And can you tell me where is the qwerty keyboard on the Samsung remote? I can’t find it and since you’re the best, you can probably tell me where it is. Thanks In advance.

  18. @bkljaydee , I’m trying… I’m a psychiatric nurse and I’m used to histrionic and narcissistic personnalities like yours. Other frustrations you want to share with us? Feel free to let your heart speak.

  19. @ScreamingDeaf .big deal….is the gay iphone better than your controller that you use for your games or better than your remote for the tv? No…..just because you can do it…..doesn’t make it worthwhile. All these iphone and ipad apps are fucking ridiculous and useless. Why use half the apps? Just cuz you can? What a waste of time. Hey look…this phone changes the channel!!Wow……!!!!!!so does the fucking remote. Do something productive with your life instead of downloading useless apps!

  20. seems a big waste of money. I have my convenient fast laptop on my coffee table. I also have a new samsung 46lcd with the option of internet if I buy an adapter. I don’t see the point. My netflix I get through my xbox etc…the only thing i think it can do for me is play pandora through my sound system connected to the tv instead of my laptop speakers ..thats it. what a waste of money. thanks for posting this video and saving me 85 dollars.!!!!!!all the other apps are useless if u own a pc!!!

  21. Good review, thanks! And don’t forget that if you have an iPhone, you can use it as a remote with wich you can use it as the regular remote, touch keyboard and controller for your games. Pretty cool and this app is free!

  22. @annasky Depends on the Xbox I suppose. If it’s a Media Extender or XBMC, probably be best just to stick with the box.

  23. if i have internet connected directly to my xbox….would this internet feature on samsung still be worth it?

  24. @UnitedStateTerrorist I think they already have (or had) apple TV. Little bit different though; it hooks up like a cable box rather than a whole TV. Google also has something like this in GoogleTV which also has aps built specifically for it. I really want to try that out.

  25. @mrbrightbill I didn’t have any issues with the wireless stick. Most problems i have are on the router side (mainly because i have too much other-than-TV network demand on a cheap linksys), but a network test is always suggested. Sometimes it takes up to 2 minutes for the network features to become completely available to the TV. It does not pop up automatically with the aps page, you’ll have to open the internet@tv menu to see that.

  26. I enjoyed your review. I just bought the stick. It is giving me fits though. I am connected to my network. But how to you get to the apps page. Does it automatically go, do I need a firmware update. Or do I need to do one of those network tests. Did you have issure when you installed your stick?

  27. Imagine if Apple made an HDTV. You’d get an iSight in it, internet, appstore (same one on yr phone/ipod), and best of yet yr remote is touchscreen and you can even use yr iPhone/Pod or Pad to control it as well. It’d be O-LED, Full 3D HD, some crazy inovative speakers built-in with an optional external subwoofer that looks as amazing as the TV. now imagine the housing.. jesus.. It’d be a beautiful TV, an artwork. Then, the most mind blowing unbelievably astonishing thing ever… THE PRICE!!! LOL

  28. @TacticalTechAdm can u use this wirelessly? I dont know how to hook my samsung up to the net and my lan wire wouldnt fit in

  29. @jat12398 Ok, lets put it this way. Long day at work, don’t want to sit at the desk in front of a computer. You get tired of the “Dancing with the Stars” marathon and want to watch new and original videos on youtube without leaving the comfort of your couch. Open Youtube app with the remote control. With a computer hooked up to the TV, you have Windows overhead. Built into TV, you don’t. You sound like the old man complaining about washing machines and telling me just to get a washboard instead.

  30. This is kinda stupid. If he wanted the thing for youtube, just by a laptop and watch your stupid videos and other crap that ppl with no life like you would watch.

  31. @w8t2009 It doesn’t autoplay the next item that it suggests to play, so no, but, let’s say you search for Rolling Stones. It will give you a long list of Rolling Stones videos. You can choose or check mark all of the videos and hit ‘play all’, and then it will continue on to the next video. Only problem is it doesn’t play continuously in full screen, or at least i haven’t found a way to force it to do that. I believe you can also play play lists, but i need to double check on that
